We chose this hotel for its position. I checked on the internet before we went and it stated that its refurbishment was due to end early September. This was far from the case. There were workmen and hanging drapes all over the place. There was very little room to sit down in reception, and the noise of drills everywhere. Many aspects of this hotel were not fit for purpose at present. We were given a 'refurbished' room on floor 31. There were no fire instructions there, no TV instructions or details of room service or facilities. Despite asking for them - particularly the fire instructions, nothing arrived. The decor was hideous (a matter of taste, I know) there were no drinking glasses in the room other than tooth glasses and no water was provided. I asked for towelling gowns, suggesting that as we were on floor 31 and if there was a fire alarm we would have to get dressed before making an escape, they didn't arrive either. The windows were filthy. The shower room (no bath) was minute. Generally, not really prepared for visitors. They also charged us for leaving our cases there until departure for the airport. Despite everything, this hotel's position is so good that we might consider going there again, but only after it had got over its teething troubles.

Great location next to Grand Central Terminal, ideal for exploring NY by foot and Metro, and for getting to and from Newark Liberty AP. Very cramped bathroom, patch of nasty staining on ceiling. Shocking prices in restaurant - good job there was an infinite choices of eateries outside!
