The forces of nature come alive in this downtown landmark 1930's colonial revivalist building. Located just north of Market Street and one block west of the Powell Street Cable Car line at Union Square, the Metropolis is just steps from Union Square shopping, San Francisco Center, San Francisco Visitors Center, theatres and fine dining.
Each floor of the hotel reflects either earth, wind, fire or water. The image is carefully created with symbolic colour, design, graphics and artwork. Casegoods constructed in African limba with stainless steel hardware, maple framed chairs upholstered in richly coloured chenille and drum shade lighting with turned wooden bases all contribute to an original look that is both striking and refreshing.

Pretty standard city centre hotel. Great location for seeing the city ... but that wasn’t particularly our agenda.
