Somewhat tired and dated. Rooms are small even by New York Standards. Broadly similar to our first experience of this hotel back in 1999.

Hotel is hotel for location only, hotel is very dated and the initial room given didn’t have space for us to put our bags in, they literally wouldn’t fit. I had to complain; we waited 24hrs and upgraded us to a much bigger and better room but was still dated. Needs to catch up with standards elsewhere in the world.

The New Yorker was the largest hotel in NYC when it opened in the 1930's with over 900 rooms. It is very well located in midtown Manhattan, a short walk from Times Square and lots of other interesting sights and sites. It was refurbished a few years ago but it creaks in places. Our room on the 29th floor, whilst very well redecorated in the art deco style, was cramped and smelt of damp.

Not for anyone afraid of heights as the room’s only start on the 20th floor, but if you like spectacular views, then this is the place for you. Great location, only a few blocks from the Empire State Building and Times Square, with a Subway station right outside for getting further afield. The room was a little small, but full of 1920s style and charm and the hotel staff were helpful and friendly. The diner downstairs was open 24 hours and served the best breakfasts!

Over all the hotel was very good and would use it again/recommend but rooms and bathrooms were quite small and a bit noisy. We didn't expect a lot of space as there were 3 of us in a room, but space would have been helpful for that reason.

Excellent hotel in the heart of the city. Great start to the holiday. Tick tock diner was expensive but gave us a taste of America in the morning.

Hotel staff in the USA and in NY especially can be quite rude and morose by English standards. Having temperature control in the bedroom was a great boon. The location was good because of ready access to the subway and Penn Station.

Very good, well presented hotel with nice period touches. Room a might be considered a little small, but this is Manhattan. Great central location, most of the main sights within walking distance. The Tick-Tock and nearby Skylight diners are ideal for breakfasts too.

We were given an upgrade and had a lovely large room on the 36 floor, looking down 34th Street to the Empire State Building only 2 blocks away and just across from Macy's. Easy access to the Subway. We arrived by Amtrak at Penn Station and only had to walk across the road to the hotel. A very good restaurant and a breakfast diner attached to the hotel and plenty of local alternatives. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. A coffee maker was provided on request.
