Renovation & Hotel Information
The New York Helmsley Hotel will be under renovation from the 28th November 2011 to mid May 2012. After a $75 million pound renovation the hotel will rebrand to a Westin Hotel in early June 2012. Until then it is still named the New York Helmsley Hotel.
In addition to the above renovation information please note the following additional details:
- The Fitness Center will close at the beginning of February 2012 and will reopen on the second floor by the 20th February 2012. There will be no alternative Fitness Center during that time.
- During the construction of the new restaurant and bar, which will replace Harry's bar and lounge, Leona's Restaurant will open. Once the new restaurant is open, Leona's Restaurant will be closed and renovated as they are adding an additional 300 sq. ft of event space.

I unsure what to expect from this hotel as the reviews had been variable but it was a brilliant place to stay for our one night stop over. It was quick to get to from JFK and we efficiently processed at the front desk and shown to our room which was clean and comfortable. The location was ideal - a short hop to Grand Central Station and Times Square. There were lots of shops and places to eat just outside. They looked after a case of ours for a week or so as we were travelling back by QM2 and did not want to cart all our evening stuff around.

Stayed here several times for the location and standard of hotel. However, disappointed on one aspect as no coffee making facilities!

The room was very good. No paper in the internet room and the charges for internet use were extortionate for residents. No tea or drink making facilities in room (although that to be expected from US hotels). The bar in the hotel closed at 12.30 pm weekends - not to be expected in an international hotel.
