Nice to be in a beautiful historic hotel in the middle of Chicago. We arrived very harassed at 4.00am our time to be greeted by a person who appeared to work for the hotel who offered to park our car. He did not work for the hotel and we ended up with a charge of $50 per day to park. This is an outrageous scam as there is a municipal car park next door to the hotel that charges a fraction of this - if we had known. Beware of this!

The hotel building is magnificent. The architecture and interior decoration are quite superb. The catering and service are also first class. Our bedroom lacked any outlook looking out as it did onto a gloomy office/hotel wall perhaps 12 stories high. Unusually for USA, there was no coffee/tea making facilities within our room! (There is an airport shuttle. It is called "The GO shuttle" and serves multi hotels)

Although only a minor matter the room had no tea/coffee making facilities. The only method to have a drink in your room was via an expensive room service. This aside the hotel was fantastic and the staff friendly helpful and polite. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Liked the location, very near Chicago Theatre and 15 minutes from the station. About 10 minutes to Magnificent Mile. Impressive and ornate building and on first entry had to lug suitcases up stairs to lobby on the first floor, later discovered the escalator. We arrived a bit early and had to wait for check in or pay $25 for an early check in. Staff at reception were a bit off hand and hard to understand, but we were offered an upgrade to our room, for an extra $29 per night we could go to executive level on 23rd floor, and have a better room, have continental breakfast included, hors d'oeuvres between 5 and 7pm and snacks and drinks all day and free use of pc all available in the lobby on 23rd floor. We decided to do this as the cost for 4 for breakfast would have exceeded that alone, and were very pleased we did. We also had access to the executive lift so that we could go straight to our floor without stopping at the others. We had the same problem with the housekeeping leaving the correct numbers of towels, but the shower was very good and bed comfortable.
