A small room with one double bed for us both to share - a surprise to all other rooms that were large and provided two double beds. This room was quite a squash with a very small bathroom. Work was being carried out on the hotel while we were there too so scaffolding wrapped around the whole building making it difficult to find the hotel when we first arrived. Staff were friendly and hotel services were good. The included breakfast was just a bagel/croissant so wasn't that impressive and was quite expensive beyond this. Location was good although right in the residential area and was quite intimidating to walk the streets surrounding the hotel late at night.

We arrived quite late in the day, with our luggage still in Frankfurt. The staff were really helpful and upgraded our room to a suite. The hotel is looks marvellous inside, and our room was of a very high standard. Currently the outside is being renovated, so I can't really comment on that. It didn't spoil our visit in any way. The only issue with the hotel is its location. It is very near to the Tenderloin section of the city, which can quite intimidating at night. As long as you head towards Union Square you'll be fine. It's also worth noting that Dottie's Cafe is right around the corner - you'll have to queue early, but it's worth it for one of the best breakfasts you'll have in California.

Very old hotel which was being renovated. So scaffolding on building. Room was small and you couldn't open windows. Room was clean and staff were very helpful and friendly. Had continental breakfast which was included and was very good. Situated near Union Square so Macy’s and designer shops not too far. Lots of places to eat and trams and buses easy to catch. I would advise to catch a bus rather than the tram as there was always a queue and packed.

Location OK, handy for trams to downtown / Fishermans Wharf. Food / Drinks expensive. Hotel information on local eating and leisure activities poor. Room on third floor small.

Nice hotel, rather let down by the location which is very close to one of the areas of San Francisco you don't want to visit! Good Wi-Fi for iPhone etc.
