We were looking forward to this hotel as the first one of our honeymoon stay, and as this was a five star, we were a little disappointed with the standard of the room. There were no major problems, but for example there were no tea and coffee making facilities (and room service for these ran at about $25 for two people!), the bathroom was fitted out for disabled guests and was generally a little tired. Concierge service was generally good, staff were friendly and Cafe Cento offered good brunch (although pricey).

Wonderful location with stunning views from our room on the 26th floor. A very helpful concierge who knows some good nearby restaurants.

The hotel was at the very top of the hill which was only served by cable cars which we were mostly unable to use as they were usually full up by the time that they reached the hotel and if you got on them at the bottom you had to queue for ages. Unfortunately, this meant that we usually had to walk up from down town. However, we found one road that was not as steep at the rest when coming up from the Bay area, this we believe was Powell. This hotel would definitely not be suitable for anyone with mobility problems or breathing difficulties because of lack of other forms of transport apart from cabs! Also anyone going there needs to be told of the necessity to have a credit card to check in with as this is require by reception or a large cash deposit is needed which threw us a bit as we don't have a credit card only a debit card. This was finally resolved after a lot of deliberation between the receptionist and management when they finally accepted the debit card! However, this was not the case at Treasure Island.

Only pain was being at the top of the hill, but this was more than made up for in the standard of hotel and level of service.
